Schmidt has been in the business of making homes look beautiful for almost 90 years. Schmidt’s history began in 1934 when Hubert Schmidt began operating a family business specialising in the manufacturing of kitchen dressers. This endeavour became official when the company we know today was founded in 1959 in the Alsace region of France.

In those intervening years, Schmidt has grown to become one of Europe’s leading and most revered names in stunning, made-to-measure home interior manufacturers.

We are proud to still be a family-owned and run business to this day, with Hubert’s grandchildren now heading up the company, led by CEO Anne Leitzgen. Our nimble, customer-focused approach has enabled us to deliver success for decades, and continues to change lives – both for our franchisees and customers.

Global brand, local business, individual delight​​​

Schmidt-built kitchens first appeared in the UK in 1986, originally being sold through kitchen and interior specialists. But it wasn’t until 2012 when the first own-brand Schmidt showrooms opened their doors in the UK.

Since then, brand awareness, orders and our loyal customer base have been steadily growing ever since – thanks to the incredible work and talent of our franchisees.

Schmidt is now a well-established supplier of top quality – but sensibly priced – interior solutions, enjoying strong brand loyalty among our customers. It’s a reputation we are hugely proud of, and one that gives future franchisees a fantastic headstart on their exciting business journey.

We have big plans for the future: by 2025, we aim to become customers’ favourite brand for made-to-measure home interior solutions across Europe. This target includes doubling the number of Schmidt showrooms in the UK.

Naturally, this also means increasing the amount of dedicated, driven and dependable franchisees we have the distinct pleasure of working with.
